It is not the purpose of this thesis to survey personality theory, but to continue where my seminar lecture left off, with the same issue of whether one's life is purposeful. This time I want to draw upon material, as before, where I find it, but with the requisite that it be scientifically defensible, that theories be rooted either in actual or potential experimental design. Personal experiences of mine will be selected for their value as supporting data or for fueling the major question. In raising the issue of whether one's life is purposeful, I have inadvertently fallen into the field of personality theory, into the exploration of the nature of man. I will attempt to be thorough. If I want the truth, I must seek valid information.
