Abstract

This section of the paper will assess the Ocean County Museum of History in an effort to understand their strengths and areas of improvement and find the best solutions by which the museum can resolve its institutional challenges. The Historical Society of Ocean County took possession of the historic Bolman Deal House in 1935. In 1959, the organization became what is known today as the Ocean County Museum of History. The historic house was designed in the Gothic Revival style and was originally used as a guest house for the family who commissioned the house. Additionally, the Museum has an offsite location, the Ocean County Archives, which houses the rest of their collection not presently on display and can be viewed by the public by appointment.
