Abstract

The purpose of this research project was to examine how the production and use of random-access family audio programs at zoos can enhance the family visitor experience.105 The result was "Family Sounds: Audio Programs For Families Visiting Zoos" (Family Sounds), a booklet for zoo administrators and educators considering audio programs for their zoo. Family Sounds helps zoo professionals to decide whether to develop a zoo audio program. Research for this project focused specifically on the family visitor experience at zoological parks; this project does, however, offer any institution with a permanently or semi-permanently displayed collection insights and information regarding random-access audio programs.
