Abstract
There is a lot of quantitative research in the literature on motivation in sport psychology. There has been some quantitative research on the motivation of girls and women. There have been smaller amounts of quantitative research on motivation and women with regards to specific sports and no research that was phenomenologically based. To be even more specific, the literature review for this paper did not uncover any literature on the motivation of women triathletes. The goal of this paper was to examine the motivation of women triathletes. The main objective was to add to an already existing body of knowledge on the motivation of women in sport and exercise and create new, undiscovered territory by specifically targeting women who are triathletes.
