Abstract
When a Homicide detective arrives at a fresh crime scene, they are often only guided by evidence present at the scene. The abundance of evidence can lead the investigator to a quick resolution to the case while lack of evidence can have the opposite effect. Over the past two decades evidence processing utilizing forensic science has grown exponentially. Forensic science simple relates to science as it applies to the law therefore all evidence that is scientifically analyzed be law enforcement is forensic evidence. This forensic evidence does have the ability to be removed or even altered in some cases. An individual with knowledge in the forensic sciences may be aware of the most current detection techniques being implemented and consequently take action to obscure the evidence that may associate them with a crime. It is at these ee levels of an investigation that homicide investigators will encounter a hurdle known as crime scene staging. When staging of a crime scene occurs, the offender is trying to misguide police investigations. It is at this point that a skilled detective will be able to unravel the evidence and capture the offender.
