Abstract
The purpose of this project was to produce a manual for the on-site cataloging, documentation and preservation of archaeological material. This project fulfilled three distinct objectives: To determine the procedures for the safe handling, packing and storage of archaeological material; To identify the types of documentation essential in maintaining provenance and context of archaeological collections; To determine the extent of cooperation and exchange of information that currently exists between archaeologists, cultural resource managers and museum/repository staff.
