The purpose of this master's project was to create a resource guide that describes and explains procedures used to stabilize and preserve iron objects excavated from underwater archaeological sites. The resource guide was designed for registrars with a minimal background in the conservation of metal artifacts. The guide enables the registrar to work with a conservator to prescribe and apply treatments to the objects. Registrars will also be able to keep their underwater objects in the best storage conditions as possible, while they wait treatment by a conservator.
