Abstract

Very little has been written or researched that takes a look at the role of the organizational ombudsman as an internal organizational development consultant. Because of this and given the lack of clarity relating these roles, this research examined where and how the two roles overlap? Could a clearer description and distinction of the primary differences and similarities between the two roles be made? What are some of the experiences of organizational ombudsmen? Do they consider any component of their roles as internal organizational consulting? Do they blend the two or keep them separate? Do internal organizational consultants see any part of their role as advocates? Their thoughts and experiences on the matter of their roles (both ombudsmen and OD consultants) as internal organizational consultants formed the basis for this study.
