Abstract
Anxiety associated with life-threatening illness is a serious issue impacting a significant number of Americans. Traditional psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy have targeted this challenge with varying success. Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)-Assisted Psychotherapy (MDMA-AP) is a modality providing a different approach to treating anxiety associated with life-threating illness. Studies have found that participants reported improvements in: their relationship to their illness, ability to fathom life and death, interpersonal relationships, mood, functioning, and quality of life.
