Abstract
Basketball games at all skill levels, from recreational to professional, are won and lost at the free throw line. Understanding the developmental process required to establish and maintain a players success at the free throw line may give athletes, sport psychologists and coaches a different perspective on how to approach performance enhancement of this skill. This current study seeks to understand the developmental process that occurs as a professional basketball player develops a free throw shot. Using a descriptive phenomenological psychological case study the results will hopefully reveal the essence of the phenomenon that the participant experienced during this process.
