Abstract
Bite mark evidence is an important , yet difficult, piece of physical evidence. Its collection and analysis require the collaboration of the forensic photographer, who collects and preserves the injury, and the forensic odontologist, who compares, analyzes, and renders an expert opinion based on that evidence. This project examines the individual roles of each expert and how the knowledge of the forensic photographer can aid the odontologist in making accurate comparisons. There is particular focus on the use of the proper photographic techniques that will result in an image that is sharp and clear, and has minimal or no distortion. It is the contention of the paper that the knowledge and proper use of these techniques can increase the percentage of bite mark photographs that are of evidentiary value.
