Abstract
Computer-mediated communication (CMC) is used by individuals to communicate in the context of conflict resolution. This pilot study looks at the implications CMC use has on conflict resolution between intimate partners. Research to date has provided indication that this communication method is growing and is a powerful platform couples use to alleviate and manage conflict. However, it has the potential to create misunderstandings and communications between partners. As a result, this study will look at both helpful components of CMC and areas of concern that individuals should be cautioned about. Data was collected through a mixed mode survey developed by the researcher in efforts to gather insights on the topic. The pilot study is used to make recommendations to those who use this medium and prepare for future studies.
