Abstract
This project explores how tribal museums and cultural centers in the United States can be partners in the education of Native youth. Acting as centers of education and cultural preservation, tribal museums and cultural centers are uniquely equipped to provide cultural and scholastic programs for Native youth. Evidence of such associations derived from interviews and case studies at three tribal museums and cultural centers in California and Arizona, which have existing programs targeted towards meeting the needs of Native youth. In addition, interviews with teachers, principals, and counselors at schools serving the three communities supplied information on the schools' perspectives and their programs for Native youth. The product in which this project culminates consists of an article in Native Peoples to inform readers about the efforts at each institution and how other museums may adopt similar programs.
