Abstract
In review of the subject matter on the failure of African American youth males not being able to successfully make or stay on an organized high school sport there had not been any type of testing or comparisons administered for comparison of other non African American youth males. The only forms of testing was used by Marcon (1999) who used the scale of intrinsic motivation versus extrinsic motivation in the classroom. 5 The purpose and the interest that I have for this particular area of wondering why the African American youth males are not successful in meeting the requirements of staying on the various high school organized teams was geared by the actual field work that I participated in during my internship. During the internships, I noticed such a large margin of difference between African American male students and non-African American male students who are able to meet the requirements and successfully stay on the high school level organized teams. In addition to the comparison during my internships, I am also able to see the end results of these African American youth male student on a day-to-day basis where I work.
