dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this master's project is to research visitor uses of audio technologies in music museums to thereby demonstrate the value of evaluation. To accomplish this, I conducted an exploratory evaluation study which included observations and interviews of three different audio components at The Experience Music Project. Since EMP gears the content of its exhibitions to the interests of baby boomers, I focused my research specifically on adult visitors. With these results, professionals will be encouraged to create their own evaluations of audio devices in the future. Additionally, these insights will be communicated to professionals attending a forthcoming conference session at Western Museums Association in Pasadena, California in 2005. My investigation informs museum professionals about different technologies currently used in exhibitions at music museums. The results of this research will interest museum professionals (specifically exhibit developers, curators, educators, -directors) when considering audio technologies for their exhibitions.
