Abstract
This research project examines and discusses the participant's experiences of advancement and discrimination in the workplace, and their experiences of company-sponsored diversity programs. It also look at factors that women of color often encounter as they attempt to move into upper management, factors that hinder advancement, or their ability to perform successfully at work. It explores women of color's feelings about themselves and their opportunities for advancement in the workplace, and it reports on expressed feelings of alienation, isolation and pessimism. This research project contributes to the small amount of research on women of color's experiences in Corporate America, and hopefully provided the participants with an opportunity for expression and discussion. Lastly, this research project provides further information and direction to develop more effective diversity programs.
