Abstract
This project is about traveling exhibition services. Specifically, the paper and product explore the history and development of traveling exhibition services and the experiences of collection managers working for museums that have contracted with such services.
The purpose of this project was to learn more about why small museums choose to host traveling exhibitions, why they do or do not choose to contract with traveling exhibition services, and what experiences these museums are having with these services. For this project, small museums have been defined as those museums with annual attendance levels of 50,000 people or fewer. This study was restricted to the western United States and museums of all disciplines were included.
