Abstract

This program, now known as the Technical Mentoring Program (TMP) has been run twelve times over the last seven years. However, with all of its success and popularity, there have been no attempts to measure the program against its desired outcomes of building technical and emotional intelligence skills, nor attempts to link the outcomes of the program to organizational performance. It is this gap that motivated this study which sought to answer the following questions: Do participants feel that the program helped them build emotional intelligence skills? Does participants' performance increase as a result of applying the emotional intelligence skills learned in the program? What type of impact is this program having on the organization? The remainder of this paper is dedicated to exploring these inquiries, reflecting on the data that was collected from the evaluation of the program.
