This thesis explores and develops a method of practice for Teacher Wellness Groups (TWGs). This thesis describes how such groups can help teachers develop both personally as well as professionally by offering a safe place to explore their inner life as it pertains to the learning environment. TWGs will be described as opportunities for teachers to engage in interaction with colleagues and other professionals and as an ongoing source of support for teacher growth—both personally and professionally. A literature review is included with a focus on the importance of addressing the inner life of teachers in structural contexts and on the psychology of workplace stress. The research methodology for this study is presented, as well as the design and methodology of TWGs specifically. The basic requirements for structuring such groups, including the demands on the group leader, and his/her responsibilities are outlined. Study outcomes are summarized and recommendations for teachers and leaders in the educational setting are made. Limitations of this study are also delineated.
