Abstract
This case study serves to analyze and address the impacts of rapid growth and market evolution on the organization, structure, and overall performance of EDF Renewable Energy (EDF-RE), a vertically integrated renewable energy company. Like many rapidly growing enterprises, EDF-RE is struggling with its culture, identity, and organizational capability during a time of great change. As a result of the exponential growth in demand for renewables and major capital investment by its parent corporation in 2007, EDF-RE has been rapidly transformed from a small entrepreneurial development company into a global corporation complete with international public shareholders. Quite nearly as rapidly however, the renewable
energy market has shifted due the prolonged global recession and its accompanying lowered demand for energy from all sources.
