Abstract
Lido Cleaners is a dry cleaning facility in Hollywood, California that experienced an unauthorized release of dry cleaning fluid or percholoroethylene (Perc). The Perc traveled through the soil and into the groundwater. Limitations on ground water contamination of Perc in the Hollywood Hydrologic Suberea of the Coastal Plain are five ug/ mg. The research conducted in this paper will evaluate the unauthorized release of Perc and make recommendations on further action needed to meet regulatory standards. Chemical characteristics of Perc and subsurface characteristics will be discussed to evaluate how the contamination will travel through the soils. In addition, the chemical concentrations and possible impact of Perc on receptors will be discussed.
