Abstract
Some museum-school relationships have developed into close working partnerships that explore, evaluate, and redefine the methods, goals, and value of museum programming for school children. The subject of this report is an evaluative study of a museum-school collaboration project in San Francisco: Museums Affiliated with Public Schools (MAPS). MAPS was formed by a group of museum educators in the San Francisco area to create a series of museum programs available for school classes. This series, when used as a teaching resource, can be integrated by teachers into school curricula to provide students with a set of related and, it is hoped, meaningful museum experiences.
