Novice counsellors are at a stage of development where self-awareness and self-care are an important part of the learning process. Mindfulness practice is considered by many as a valuable tool that promotes self-awareness and supports self-care. Novice therapists may benefit from incorporating mindfulness practice into their self-care routine. This qualitative thesis explores the personal journey of a novice therapist who investigates the process of establishing a mindfulness practice. A review of the literature and a discussion of the results are presented.
