Abstract
There is a growing interest among science, natural history, and youth museums in addressing difficult or controversial subjects in their museums. This interest arises from the public's demand for relevance in the programs they help support, the competition for public funding among nonprofit institutions, and the societal need for citizens who are prepared to think and act on complex current issues that relate to themselves and the world.
The following paper will examine how a science museum exhibit, by making use of a variety of exhibit design techniques, can be an effective medium for communicating controversial issues on science subjects to museum visitors.
