Abstract
This catalog serves as primary documentation of the Prieto Collection. Although it is fairly large--about three hundred artists represented by almost four hundred works--the collection is inaccessible and has never been fully researched, evaluated or exhibited. For instance, in the exhibition catalog Major Works from the Mills College Collection, 2 which includes a relatively detailed history of the Mills College Art Gallery and its collections, there is no mention of the ceramics collections,3 the Mills College Ceramic Guild or the Antonio Prieto Memorial Gallery--three important contributions to the Mills College Art Gallery history. This project, therefore, helps to round out the documentation of the Mills College Art Gallery collections.
