Abstract
The report is presented in three parts; first, a brief historic background of the Ottoman Empire and the role textiles played during the seventeenth through nineteenth centuries. The second part is a review of pertinent information about the towels, and includes the original research resulting from my comparative study. My conclusions and the questions I feel remain to be answered are also contained in the second part of the report. The final portion is a catalogue of the textiles chosen for the study and referred to throughout the text.
