Abstract
This study examined the reactions, and subsequent actions and strategies, of the employees after they had learned the President of their company had decided to retire. The President of the company was a highly revered founder and the sole mastermind behind the success of the company since the beginning 15 years ago. The seven employees who participated in this study had been with the company for more than two years and all have had a close working relationship with the President.
Using grounded theory method to collect data, the researcher interviewed each participant several times in order to complete the data collection. Data from each interview helped generate new questions for ensuing interviews, and data were categorized into themes and dimensions.
