Abstract

Some meditation groups use astrologically-based cycles to determine the timing and focus of their meditation activity. This study investigates the utility and reliability of a formal astrological calendar format used by a group of meditation practitioners called the Unicorn Ashram. A survey questionnaire was sent to the members of the Unicorn Ashram in an attempt to objectively measure the accuracy and utility of predictive astrological data for the Unicorn Ashram meditation practitioners. The results indicated that of the segment (50%) of those Ashram members who choose to employ astrological data as a meditative focus, a significant majority (more than 79%) "agree or strongly agree" that the forecasts accompanying the first six full moon periods of the year 1993 were accurate and useful in assisting their meditation alignment and activity.
