Abstract
I discuss the significance of community in finding a life purpose. First, I look at why community is necessary for finding a life purpose. Next, I propose how a life purpose is found through community. I draw upon several experts in the field with my emphasis on a model of indigenous community that is intimately connected to a life purpose. I also suggest how we can recreate a similar sense of community in the West since we are so disconnected from each other and ourselves. Finally, I consider the implications to the individual and community of not pursuing life's purpose. Throughout the paper, I discuss my own experience of finding a life purpose and how I have come to realize that I must embrace community to do so.
