Abstract

Rave events and dance parties, which began in Europe in the 1980’s, have introduced a new family of party drugs into society. These drug substances, commonly referred to as “club drugs”, include Ecstacy, Ketamine, GHB, and Rohypnol. Club drugs have made their way into the lives of ordinary teens and young adults who take these drugs at social events and believe they are harmless. The raging debate as to the danger of club drugs is a constant struggle between the users and the researchers, police officials, and those who know these substances are not only dangerous, but also deadly.
