Abstract
The purpose of this master's project is to identify the issues a museum faces when closing and dispersing its collections. This project focuses on small to mid-size history museums that have closed or are in the process of closing. The result of this project is a resource guide designed for museums faced with closure and dispersement of their collections. This resource guide addresses issues of accountability a museum must consider when dispersing its collections and provides resources for finding answers to questions that may arise in these situations.
