dc.description.abstract | For this case study, we will focus on a small science museum located in a humble town in Northern California. The museum is still young. In 2005 a solid and committed group of community representatives formed the officially were recognized as the board and began the process of opening a museum. In March of 2009 the museum officially opened for business. The mission of this institution is to offer hands-on science-based exhibits and programs to stimulate discovery for all ages. The museum operates with three full time employees and an Executive Director. The Executive Director continues to work free of charge as a volunteer and an avid supporter of the museum's mission and role in the community. Currently, the museum has 40 permanent exhibits, all of which are interactive. Also there is a successful field trip program offering curriculum appropriate classes ranging from preschool through high school. Themed birthday parties are available on weekends, family friendly monthly events are held to focus on different areas of science, and a monthly program geared to adults. | |
