Abstract
Juvenile homicide has become an overwhelming discussion due to the recent school shootings. There are many possible answers to the question of why juveniles kill. This study covers several of the common factors that contribute to why juveniles kill, including accessibility to firearms, exposure to family violence, presence of mental illness, exposure to media violence and victimization of bullying. Qualitative analysis of eight case studies is used to decide the extent that these common characteristics motivate juveniles to kill. These case studies that are examined all have a history of easy access to firearms, family violence, mental illness, exposure to media violence and bullied by peers.
