Abstract
The positive personal growth following a crisis situation is typically overshadowed by the negative consequences of stress. There is pervasive importance in identifying the growth potential after a crisis situation. A school counsellor's fundamental role is to assist students facing crisis and in doing so, have reported experiences of positive personal growth that have contributed to their professional and personal growth. Self-awareness, reflection and mentorship have also been proponents of positive adaptation for school counsellors after a crisis situation. Overcoming the many challenges of student or school-wide crisis experiences can catalyze new opportunities for individual, social development and professional understanding in the life of a school counsellor.
