Abstract
The overarching purpose of this project is to propose ways that art museum educators can enhance the accessibility of art museum exhibitions in the United States by advocating for universal design. Currently, exhibition design in art museums does not adequately address the diversity of individuals' learning styles, which is a necessity to increase the accessibility of exhibitions. By surveying and interviewing art museum educators throughout the United States, this project evaluated the state of educators' understanding of universal design and involvement in the design of art exhibitions. This study resulted in recommendations on how educators can effectively contribute to the universal exhibition design process in art museums.
