dc.description.abstract | This research project examines the importance of understanding, creating, and providing trauma-informed care practices in counselling agencies in Canada. It will highlight and deepen the discussion surrounding the importance of trauma-informed care practices. An overview of three prominent trauma-informed care frameworks will be discussed, highlighting their strengths and limitations. This paper will examine specific populations who experience higher rates of trauma, with an additional section exploring the correlation between trauma-informed care and adverse childhood experiences. Implications for the practice of counselling psychology in using trauma-informed care practices are addressed. Future research in the field and recommendations for excellence within trauma-informed care milieu is presented. | |
