dc.description.abstractAthletes face a variety of stressors and challenges that impact their mental health and functioning. While research has focused on a number of these factors, social media and its use is still an emerging area of interest. In this literature review, I examine the intersectionality of social media and other variables that are implicated in the mental health and performance of athletes. Strategies catering to the use and assistance of social media to practitioners and athletes are mentioned along with strengths and limitations to guide the discussion for further areas of research.
