This paper focuses on the food and eating-related behaviours of youth in government care. In particular, it considers these behaviours as understandable responses to the unique circumstances of life in government care. A response-based model is proposed as a means of communicating about food and eating-related behaviours in a way that honours the unique creativity, intelligence, and reliance of these individuals.
