Abstract

Determining the rate of decomposition is of crucial importance in the forensic science field. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effects of climatic variables and insect succession on the velocity of decomposition. Through the use of previously publish literature, the effect of temperature and insect activity will be analyzed. A key point that should be noted which emerged from the development of this research is the lack of published material on the subject. Although the resources were limited, the obtained data supported the hypotheses that there are significant differences in the rate of decomposition when temperature and insects are present. An analysis of previously published material was completed and used as the method used to support the thesis.
