dc.description.abstract | In this capstone project, I will explore what parents of transgender and gender-expansive kids really need in order to be able to offer life-changing support, acceptance, affirmation, and advocacy to their TGE children. Specifically, can parenting programs, family therapy, and or specific attachment-based interventions create safety for trans and nonbinary youth in this cisnormative and transphobic world? Findings from this project can inform counsellors and mental health practitioners in delivering supportive gender-affirming care to the families of TGE youth. | |
