Abstract
The objective of the following essay is to demonstrate the spiritual and visual parallels between elements of Oriental spiritual and visual expression on one hand and the spiritual and visual expression of Mark Tobey, Adja Yunkers and Sam Francis on the other. I will try to emphasize their compatibility. I intend to point out Oriental elements which were accepted consciously or unconsciously or simply became sources of inspiration.
