Abstract
The underlying premise of developing an educational program for children at the University Museums of Illinois State University was to provide a better service to the community than that which currently existed, with the hopes of increasing the museums' usage. Simply stated, the University Museums wanted to make a unique offering to the largest potential audience within the community. This paper describes the process of assessing the community's needs and the museums' resources, as well as the process of developing, testing, and evaluating the program which was created to meet that need.
