Abstract
Managed care and its various products, such as HMO's, has increasingly become the health care product of choice. Over the past few decades, Senior HMO products have been added to the healthcare products that the elderly can, choose from as an alternative to Medicare supplements. "Managed Care is a system that combines in one convenient package the services of health care providers with the financing of an insurance company. The emphasis is on preventative medicine, appropriate care, and coordination of care." (Deaconess Associates, 1997). With people living longer the elderly population has exploded. This project will look at the possible effect these new products may have on the quality of healthcare the elderly receive.
