Abstract
This project is a descriptive analysis of suicide with particular concentration on San Diego County, California.
Through the use of suicidiological literature and information, an attempted exploration of all possible facets influencing suicidal ideations was undertaken. The county of San Diego, was divided into 4 regional areas, of relatively equal population content. The study was an attempt to discover trends in suicide, if any exist, within these regions based upon ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic factors over a seven year period. Official county suicide statistics, maintained by the Office of the County Medical Examiner, were the source of suicide statistics used throughout the project. This endeavor demonstrated that on an overall basis, San Diego County was found to be slightly higher than average, annually, in suicide rates on the state level, but lower than numerous other locations on the national level.
