Abstract
In the first portion of this work I will examine the origins of the Gita. This will include a wide variety of opinions, interpretations and translations which will hopefully introduce the reader to the greater topic.
The remainder of the paper will consist of my translation and commentary on the text itself. This will include a transliteration of the verses from the Sanskrit (Devanagari). Due to time and subject constraints, I will only translate verses which are directly relevant to my thesis. The other verses will generally be summarized so as to maintain the continuity of the text. All translations contained herein will be my own unless otherwise noted. This includes a few from the Srirnad Bhagavatam.
