Abstract

This research, then, will attempt to isolate the key organization-controllable factors which most influence volunteers to continue their volunteer work. In doing so, it will provide a roadmap for organizations to review their own systems and structures and be able to address those areas which most influence their volunteers. The literature review will also address those aspects of volunteer management research which clarify how such systems should operate. It is hoped, by the conclusion of this paper, that the staff of a small nonprofit organization will be able to understand the key organizationcontrollable factors of interest to volunteers, the research used to select those factors and how those factors can be addressed in their own organizations.
