Abstract

Although Starbucks does make the list of being one of the top ten socially responsible companies, their biggest drawback is not making a big public announcement of it every chance they get. On the other hand, Toms Shoes publicly states that for every pair of shoes they sold, a pair would be donated to a child in need (Liodice, 2010). That is an extremely kind gesture and Toms shoes ensure that they publicize this so that their customers would get a sense that they are dealing with a very socially responsible company that is giving back to the community. The area that Starbucks lacks is just this. Starbucks does same if not more in terms of giving back, it's just that the customers are not enlightened about the work they do and Starbucks needs to find a way to articulate and publicize all the good work they are doing.
