Abstract
Previous research shows malingering is difficult to detect in an injured worker, which implies it is necessary to develop some way of pinpointing indicators of malingering. 190 worker’s compensation claims were reviewed to look for commonalities and differences between those claims that were legitimate and those that were not. The only possible indicators of malingering found in this study were injured workers who file questionable claims have had at least one previous claim and in most cases were working for less than one year. These possible indicators are not concrete due to the limitations of the study. Future experiments could examine different disciplines and age ranges to get a better representation of the general population.
