Abstract

The issue that I intend to address and answer is whether GE should enter a solar panel market that is saturated with inferior Chinese made panels, which have a competitive advantage due to the Chinese government supporting those companies and wanting to take the lead in the production of green/clean energy technology for themselves and the entire world. GE's strategy will be to either acquire an existing solar panel manufacturing company and use their production factory, or build a new factory by themselves and enter the market with little production experience with this product, or just not compete at all. If GE does decide to enter the market then they will need to build lower cost solar panels and provide easier installation processes for consumers that can effectively compete with the Chinese companies and slowly erode their market leadership position.
