Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the different types of parent/child athlete relationships and how the aspects of these relationships affects the children. This study will provide insight into the different types of relationships parents have with their athletic child. It will examine both the parental expectations of their athletic children, as well as the child's experience of his/her parents. The results will show how the parental relationship impacts the athlete and his/her performances, and consider how different styles of parenting may be beneficial as opposed to detrimental.
